Making A Coastal Fall Home

I love living in Maryland. I am huge on the weather changing, football, pumpkin spice lattes, and bonfires. However, I love the colors in my home and am not always big on changing my house decor. I am forever cool colors and pastel girl. I love my light and airy feel and try to keep it that way throughout the seasons. I’m not a perfectionist but I am working on it. Decorating for seasons and holidays is expensive. Every year I try to invest in something new that I can add to my decorations for each occasion. This year is no different. I’m committed to my grand-coastal look and at times it can be challenging to remain with the theme. Here are 5 ways to create a space that gives you a coastal fall feeling.

  1. Remain with muted and pastel colors. When we think fall we think pumpkins and leaves. So many of those colors are limit you to warm browns, tans, orange and yellow. Those are all great however if you’re looking for a more coastal feel try muted colors such as greys and pastels. A great way to do this is to purchase white pumpkins, pale greens, tans, and muted blues.
  2. Choose greenery that tributes to the beach. Pampas grass is a great way to bring in the beach greenery. Eucalyptus leaves are another great touch. Other options for a more fall feel are dried leaves and greenery. You can select any of those floral choices with a recycled glass vase.
  3. Incorporate Driftwood into your design. Use driftwood where you can. Driftwood is a staple in coastal decor and can be incorporated with pumpkins to give a fall feel. Some great ways to use driftwood are in a catchall bowl, mirror, art piece, or candle holders. Other ways to use driftwood are to switch out your wooden picture frames with more fall-like art.
  4. Don’t Shy Away From Stripes. Stripes are used throughout coastal decor and can be applied in the fall as well. Find some striped tea towels, throws, or pillows to keep with the look.
  5.  Embrace Sea-glass in your room. Sea glass screams coastal! Not sure how to incorporate sea glass into your decor? Try using a recycled glass vase or incorporating turquoise in your home.

I hope this helps you gain ideas for a more coastal look for fall. If you’d like to connect and brainstorm more ideas, follow me at @Lifestyleswith_erika on Instagram.
