We recently purchased Samsung’s The Frame TV as a second-time Mom & Dad gift to one another. Our TV in the family room was on its way out and we wanted something that aesthetically blended into our family room. We love family photos and art and needed another outlet to show our favorite pieces and pictures. After a month of having this piece, I can finally provide my opinion if The Frame TV is really worth it.
Our Purchase
We purchased this TV during the week of Amazon Prime Day. The Frame TV does not go on the sale often so if you are committed to this particular TV and do find it on sale, it’s your best option to purchase then. Now that we’ve gotten the purchase and sales out the way, let’s break down the pros and cons.

Pros
- The Frame TV is absolutely stunning. It really does look like a piece of art. We currently purchased newborn photos for our youngest child and in place of art have a family photo of the four of us. However, you can purchase many different pieces of art on Samsung’s app or find unique pieces on Etsy. You can change out the art during seasons which I find to be cool. I plan to do a post in the following weeks on Frame TV art on Etsy so stay tuned!
- There are many different frames to choose from besides black to fit your home decor. To my knowledge, their frames come in black, white, teak, tan, and brown. Not interested in these options? There is a pleather of gold frames that are not Samsung brand or you can do a DIY option that can be found on Pinterest.
- This TV has some cool features such as phone mirroring that’s perfect for video chatting with friends and family.
- The TV allows you to reflect on your PC monitor (a feature I should use more). All you need to do is download the PC on the TV app and you can work in your living room or kitchen (if you have an open concept).
- This TV has LED backlighting which provides a true selection of coloring.
Cons
- This TV is expensive. It is certainly an investment piece which is why Joe and I waited to purchase the TV on sale. A 65” TV on a normal day cost $1,999.00.
- It can be hard to set up if you are not handy. Joe is extremely hands-on and knew how to use the TV mount in addition to removing our already installed HDMI cables. It’s best to hire a professional if you’re not confident that is a project you can tackle this kind of project.
- The Samsung TV app is not great. Don’t get me wrong it is a great idea and has a lot of potential, but in my opinion, feels over-complicated. It does have some additional watch features that may be beneficial to your taste. However, my family and I have not used them yet.
Overall I’d say this is a great purchase for someone that is into home decor and bringing their room together. If you want to have a space that looks like there is no TV, then this is the purchase for you. If you’re not into showcasing art or family photos, this purchase may not be the best investment for you. As always, feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions on any of the pieces I write. I love connecting with you all.
